Hughesnet.com Complaint - Beware

CALIFORNIA -- Beware of Hughesnet.com Internet service. I have it at work. When there is a problem they are EXTREMELY difficult to deal with.

You get an operator in India who is reading from a manual and are next to NO HELP. Hughesnet does not come to your home/place of business and fix the problem - I was told by the Indian Operator that they would charge us to send somebody out [my home service with a large Internet provider - will come out, at no additional charge as part of the service to make sure everything is up and running and to keep their customers happy]

I have called Hughesnet on two occasions for service [Internet not working] each time they ran a Modem dianostic test and told me our Modem was not working and that they would put in an order for a replacement at $300 and some odd dollars. Both times I told them NO and we had a local mobile computer service come out - both times it was NOT the Modem but some other small issue.

Its infuriating that you have no power on the phone and can not be connected to someone local in the United States to solve these issues - they have in my opinion NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Also as stated in other complaints - the Internet service is VERY slow. Slightly faster than a dial up.

If this was my home service provider I would without a doubt replace them.

perhaps you could petition the CEO of your company to change providers. There are other options that provide faster internet at comparable prices to hughesnet.
