DirecTV Inc Complaint - Ignorant and rude customer service reps
I have had service with DirecTV for over 4 years and have noticed a sharp decline in customer service and company ethics. Recently I canceled service to reduce bills and get an all inclusive service from my local cable company. I called DirecTV to cancel and was treated extremely bad by a CSR. She actually threatened me and said that I would be sent a bill reflecting charges due and that if I didn't pay it would go to collections. I had no outstanding bill and had no idea where she was coming from. I received a bill recently for $235.41. I called "customer service" and was told that my service was being billed for service even though I had canceled it. There also seems to be a cancellation fee associated with this bill. I disputed these charges and was told to wait for "billing disputes" to review this. In the meantime DirecTV tried to charge the full amount to my debit card which I did not authorize them to do so. I called again and was told that this was the last card used to pay current bill so they used it. WHAT??? They used previous card even though bill was in dispute and not settled, they charged me for service I did not have access to, I never received a $25.00 rebate for adding a premium channel to my service, they charged me an early cancellation fee even though I filled my contract obligation years ago and they accessed by debit account without my authorization, not to mention customer service serves the company and not the consumer, ever!!! In closing I would like to say " if you are thinking of having DirecTV installed think about the long term, they are scammers and will definitely screw the consumer in the end". I am currently organizing a class action against DirecTV concerning unethical business practice and fraudulent billing and recovery of consumer accounts.
