Priceline.com Complaint - Priceline's price worse than walk-in price
NORWALK, CONNECTICUT -- We booked two nights Nov. 21 and 22 in Borrego Springs, California, at the only place that had a room available- a resort. Priceline charged us $323.04 (total, including taxes) for two nights.
When we checked in at the desk I noticed that the invoice for our room showed a total of $257.48. I asked the receptionist and she said that that was the "walk-in" rate. We could have gotten this rate with no reservation at all.
I called Priceline Customer Service. I was told that the rate I was charged was the "rack rate." I asked why Priceline was charging the rack rate- which almost no one ever pays. They were adamant that I was not going to receive any adjustment. When we returned home I wrote letters to Priceline's CEO and to the VP for Customer Service. I received no written reply from either, but a week later I received a phone call from Customer Service where I was again rebuffed- no adjustment would be forthcoming.
Why book with Priceline if they're going to rip you off like this?
