Sears Complaint - Royal Nightmare!
PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS -- On 12/14/10 we purchased an ellyptical trainer from Sears at the North Shore Mall in Peabody, MA. It took us 10 minutes to pick the item with no assistance from an associate who simply lurked around as if we would steal the 250 pound machine. Any questions were answered with "I'm not sure", "I don't know" or "I guess so". Wanting to take advantage of what seemed like a decent offer we put up with this moron and selected the item on our own. The real nightmare began here: 2 hours spent at the cash register, no clue how to set-up delivery and assembly once he pushed the 3-year protection plan on us which he claimed came with "free" assembly. After 3 managers were called for assistance at different times (only one said hello and apologized) and it finally was okay to pay, we were told the item did not qualify for 12 mo interest free financing. I paid with my regular credit card, then spotted a sign that offered 12 mo int-free financing. Canceled the charge, opened Sears MC, re-charged, made error, canceled, re-charged. Done. Assembler would call. Item was delivered a week later, no assembler called. I called Sears on 12/31/10 and found out assembly was not included when the sneak tried to cancel my $184 protection plan without permission or explanation. Asked to speak to a manager, unable to connect me to one. Went to store in person. Still not sure who will assemble our equipment or when. Also found out Sears MC has no record of an interest free purchase. Item was charged as a regular purchase with 25.7% interest rate. Had to call and correct. Final thought: $400 off an ellyptical is not worth this much aggrevation, trickery, BS, dealing with completely untrained nitwits and precious time (total of 4 hours wasted). Will never shop at Sears again!
