Disneyland (California) Complaint - Turning a dream into a nightmare - Disneyland park

Disneyland park - Complaint
Review by nightmare2010 on 2011-01-04
I visited Disneyland with my family Dec 28 2010. Ten hours later I managed to get on 4 rides. At $300 for a family of 4 that amounts to $75 per ride. Add $150 for unhealthy and hard to get food and $450 and 10 hours later I felt ripped off. It is obvious that they wanted to stuff as many people as possible on the park to the point we were being pushed and shoved and got basically nowhere. Fast track (now that is a misnomer) waits were 2 to 3 hours. What a horrible experience. Never been in such a crowd before.

I'm sorry but you visited during one of the busiest times of the yr. Perhaps if you got there at 8 am and beat the crowds you'd have more fun. Timing is everything and there are plenty of guides to when the best time to visit would have been.

Everyone must of decided to visit Disney that day. Disney stopped letting people into the park because of the crowds. Don't visit Disney during the holidays if you don't want to deal with the crowds. Between Xmas and New Years is the busiest time of the year.

What rides did you go on? If you tried to get onto some of the busiest rides, then the wait will be very long. If you did the submarine Finding Nemo ride, your wait was probably at least 2-3 hours. Space Mountain would probably be close to the same. If you went to California Adventure to do the Toy Story Mania game ride, it could be even longer. Small World ride, at Christmas time with the Christmas decorations up, can be quite a long wait as well.Rides like the Buzz Lightyear game ride typically have a shorter wait.

As said, it also depends on what time of the year you go and what day of the week. As for the food, you can bring your own food into the park. There are plenty of places to get food there if you want, and good food too. If you tried to get food around a busy time of the day (around lunch or around dinner time instead of inbetween those times), then it could take some time to get that food.

I will definitely never go to Disney or any of the similar parks the week between Christmas and New Year's.

It really does come down to that. Christmas week is insane at theme parks, especially Disney. I take my kids out of school for a week when we go to the Florida parks. Best time is October or November. You just can't enjoy the experience when the parks are filled to capacity, and that is the week they always are.

Slimjim, I never thought I'd do something like that (take my kids out of school) but I really think that's what we'll do when it's time for us to make the pilgrimage to see Mickey. Florida in the summer is miserable, so that's out, and if you go any time the kids are on break, everyone else in the country is on break too.

I went with my brother's family about 5 years ago the first week of December. It was great, the park was not crowded and it was already decked out for Christmas.

wow...why do I have a feeling this is a yearly complaint around this time.....I dont know what people expect....going to disney over christmas break.

i'm glad to hear the economy is doing well enough that Disney and other themeparks are full to capacity! That is good news! I've never been to any major theme park during the holidays - common sense tells me that it would be waaaayyyy too crowded. I like to go in the HOT Months as it is less crowded and i get to enjoy the pools

That is really too bad that they don't have the capacity to handle the crowds during certain times. My experience with Disney has always been positive, but I have gone during off times.

I work in a downtown area and there is a lady that trailers a mobile cook station and serves Thai food cooked to order. Well, I'm told it's really great food. She has become so popular that, if you don't get there early or late, you either won't have time to get through the line, or you have a really long wait ahead. Obviously she has an excellent product and treats her customers well. She just doesn't have the capacity. That's Disney except on a much larger scale and busy times are particular time of the year rather than the day.

We've always gone to Disney Land, after Labor Day Weekend. Less crowds and everyone is back in school.

The flower bed in front, that says:

"The Happiest Place on Earth", should actually say,

"The Happiest Place on Earth, for SOME".

i know you want to go on rides but what exactly do you want them to do?

if they lower the limits on the number of people who get in... YOU could be the person who doesn't get in. would that be acceptable to you?

how would you react to that?

I've never been to either Disney park. One of the best amusement parks in the Northeast is the Sweetest Place on Earth, Hershey Park in PA. I can't count the number of times I have taken my kids there since they were 2 years old and now the oldest is 21. This is their favorite place to go. Once in awhile, its a bit crowded but you can still get on rides. Most of the time, its not that crowded at all except for the waterpark which we don't do. We always get our moneys worth for our season passes.
