Continental Airlines Complaint - Stolen Items

Complaint
Review by gmlingus on 2011-01-04
I and family were travelling to India this winter (Dec 2010) and two smartphones worth 1000 USD were stollen from the checked in baggage. I don't know how this happened. After arriving in Delhi called 800 number and filed complaint. I am doing a follow ups now. It was not a good end of the year.

Return journey was also not pleasant. Nothing was stolen but many passengers including us were pissed off from rude air hostesses.

We booked basinet for out 4 months old, but didn't get any. To our surprise there was only one basinet in the entire flight.

this happens at all airlines. It shouldn't, but it does. Don't leave expensive items in your checked luggage, bring it with you in your carry-on.

This could be Continental Airlines, but it could also have been the TSA or customs in India. The have plenty of access to your luggage before and after flights as Continental Airlines has to hand them over to them. In fact, they actually have the technology to look into your bags without opening them, where Continental employees would just have to guess which bags have the goodies.

I'm compiling a list of travel 'Don't's"
1) never put easily fenced items in checked baggage (electronics, jewelry, medicines0

2) Never book travel through 3rd party websites - always book directly with hotel or carrier

3) Never go to major themeparks between christmas and new years

.... more to come :)

I'm sorry your phones were stolen. Like Ben mentions, it could be Continental Airline, TSA or customs.

When we travel, things we buy along the way, that I do not want to take home on the plane, I always ship everything back home Fedx, so there is nothing tempting in our luggage for someone to just help themselves to.

I would have a seconds panic attack when I thought I had lost my Android phone. Usually the phone would be in my pocket or left it in the car.
