AT&T Complaint - AT&T Internet Special Has Hidden Costs
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- I frequently receive a mailer from AT&T offering a special for their internet service of $14.99 a month for the first year. I finally decided to take them up on the offer. When I call the person I spoke to suggested that up grade to a faster speed plan at $19.95 a month for the first year with a one year agreement to continue the service, which I agreed to. Service was promptly started but they have been charging me $40.00 every month. I have made multiple calls and even spoken to a supervisor, I have explained that there was nothing in the paperwork that they sent me or explained to me verbally that would lead me to understand that they would be charging $40.00, the agreement was 19.99 a month. They told me on my first call not to worry that it would take a month for the 19.95 price to kick in and that I will receive credit for my over payment. I am going on 4 months of service and they still have not refunded me or given me credit for anything and I am still being changed $40.00 a month for service. Every time I call they say it will kick in for sure next month but bit has not happened. I can not discontinue service or they will charge me a $175.00 early disconnection fee. Bottom line is this don’t be fooled by AT&T’s internet special you will be very disappointed and spend your time arguing with them without any success. AT&T is not playing fair with it’s customers!
