McDonald's Corporation Complaint - Service or Scam - Making correct change
LEE, MASSACHUSETTS -- Sunday 1-2-11 while traveling with our grandchildren we stopped for lunch at the Mass Pike Eastbound Service Plaza. After placing our order we gave the attendant two twenty dollar bills. The attendant place the bill in the drawer and gave us change as if we had given her $30. Once confronted she insisted that she had made the correct change. We discussed this over our lunch and I went back and asked for a manager. I explained the the manager what had happened and she located the attendant and told me if I wanted to wait 15 minutes that she would count the drawer and see if it was over. Since we were on a schedule I left my name and phone number and she told me that she would call me three hours later. Only after I left did I realize why she was not going to call me in 15 minutes which that time that it would take her to count the drawer. I did receive a call from McDonald's to tell me that the drawer balanced to the penny.
The money we were using for the trip came from an ATM machine the night before. We had not make any other purchase so we are 100% sure that the attendant was given $40.00.
1. When you give any clerk money for a purchase state the amount your are giving them.
2. If you have dispute do not wait. Ask for a manager and make sure they count the draw right away not at the end of the shift.
3. You can not expect clerks or managers to be looking out for you.
