Walgreens Complaint - Major price gouging
OREGON, WISCONSIN -- Our local Walgreen's [Oregon, WI] filled a generic Azithromycin 6 tablet prescription for me and charged 41.99. The next day, I picked up the identical prescription for my wife at her local small town pharmacy just across the street from Walgreen's. It was even the identical package and generic manufacturer [TEVA]. Her cost was 13.00! That is OVER TRIPLE the cost at Walgreen's. I called back to make sure either place didn't make an error. No error. I then checked online and found that the top three major, reputable online pharmacies charged between 7.00 and 11.00 for the prescription. This was my 1st prescription at this Walgreen's but I always wondered why a 24 pack of Mylanta chewables was almost 2.00 less at the small grocery store down the street. My advice is to stay as far away as you can from Walgreen's. They are quietly cheating you thinking you won't check on them. Luckily, my experience was not a larger financial blow.
Of course my polite email to Walgreen's Corporation asking them to please explain this pricing was totally ignored.
