Bounty Paper Towels Complaint - Unwanted change - Bounty Paper Towels

Review by Libbey on 2011-01-07
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Sometime during 2010, BOUNTY Paper TOWELS got the NOT SO Bright idea to make the paper towels ONE HALF the size of a regular size paper towel that the consumer has had "forever"!

After 20 years?, I am switching to another brand that does not have these tiny little segmented pieces of paper towel.

FOR the life of me, WHY???? I end up using TWICE the amount of paper towel to get the real size that I wanted...in the first place!

Their strategy is obvious now...using more towels requires the consumer to buy MORE!! BRILLIANT Marketing!!

That is irritating isn't it? VH

Don't buy the select-a-size kind. I hate them also. I have to search for regular sized paper towels when I go to the store.

I guess it depends on what you are using them for. I kind of like the smaller segments.
Isn't the overall roll still the same size?

Bounty comes in two versions, full size sheets and select-a-size sheets. If you don't want the smaller sheets, make sure the package doesn't say select-a-size.

Select-a-size can come in handy depending on what you're using them for, as hothead mentioned. When you need a full size sheet, you can just tear off two small ones.

Good reminder to pay attention and read the packaging. Cursed at myself for weeks after purchasing a roll that was segmented into 3rds.

I too felt the same sense of outrage when first confronted with one of those half sheets from the paper towel roll but I gotta admit as time goes by I've grown to like it.

It has it's pros and cons. I say give it a chance. You never know you might grow to like it.

I don't see how it would cause you to use double the normal amount, but as the others suggested, just buy the kind that are full size.

Does it matter? If you need a longer size just cut 2 papers. Bada Boom Bada Bing!

Select-a-size has been around for years, OP. I'm surprised you never noticed before.

It is a pain MRM. With a full size sheet you just grab and pull off at the perf, with segmented sheets, you have to count off and often times they tear off wrong.

In todays fast paced world who has time to count off paper towel sheets.

You are right, ript. That can happen, and it's annoying. Sometimes I end up with one or three. That's the reason I prefer the full size sheets.

You should switch to 100% recycled paper towels anyway.

Never buy Marcal recycled paper towels. I wouldn't take them for free. They are completely useless. Scott, on the other hand, is much better.

Who should buy 100% recycled paper towels, momsey?

I find that with full sheets, I tend to waste more, and that's why I prefer the smaller sized.

I'm not going to count, it's a measured handful.

I have used Select-A-Size for SEVERAL YEARS. It seems to have earned more shelf space, but they still have the full sized. I think you failed to examine the package.

You know WHY I use them? Growing up, we ripped the paper towels in half. We make smaller messes than some, I guess. Guess what I do now - yep, I often rip the Select-A_Size in half. (:

Very few cleanup jobs I do require more than one SAS sheet. When they do, I simply tear off more sheets. Brilliant, in my mind.

I tried paper towels once but gave up after using several rolls just to dry off after a shower.

Two select a size paper towels are slightly bigger than 1 regular sized paper towel. If you use 2 smaller sheets for each job, you would go through more rolls than if you used 1 regular sized towel.

My complaint is that the length of the sheets got smaller. I noticed because we buy cases for work, and the box was no longer firm, but broke up easy because it was not full. Now the last shipment I got reduced the number of sheets from 52 to 48. In 6 cases of 30 rolls, that comes to minus 10.34 rolls..... It is a way to not change the price, and slip by the customer
