DirecTV Inc Complaint - Installation
I am an existing DirecTV customer and have been for 8 years, I have always been satisfied with the service (not ecstatic), when the tech arrived to day he explained that it was a simple change out. Change the dish and the receiver and we are good to go. Proceeded to put the receiver right above my patio on the eave (50 feet from current location). I questioned this and he got pretty upset with me, he proceeded to tell me that this was the only location (on my 2.5 acres) that the dish would work, when I questioned him; he proceeded to tell me that he has done this for 3 years and had far more experience that I had and so did not have to explain the location.
I might not be the smartest out there, but I am a college graduate and have built 2 houses my self (so I am not an idiot). Also looked at my current dish and the neighbors dish's directions I could not understand the reason why only one location would work. I asked him to use the satellite signal meter (?) to show why it would not work on other locations, he refused and told me his job was to get the signal and not worry about ascetic location. When I asked for a 2nd opinion he told me he was going to remove the dish and leave. I called DirecTV customer service and spoke with a representative (did a great job of hearing me out and establishing a procedure to find a solution). She has set up a supervisor to come have another look to see if service can be reached in another location. I will report back on this. Bottom line is, after spending over $6000 over the past 8 years, I expect a little respect and would like to be considered a faithful customer. I have since done a little home work and with a GPS and sextant (yes I am a nerd), I can not believe that this is the only location with good line of sight.
Just beware when the 25 year old high school graduate mistakes you for a total idiot. Stand your ground and demand respect after all we are the customers.
