Delta Airlines Complaint - Recent Experience/Baggage Mis-handling
MONROE, NEW YORK -- Traveling on 1/1/11 our bags were lost. Baggage customer service at Newark indicated they would be delivered the next day in the morning as they "missed" the flight. On 1/2/11 I checked on line and learned my bags had arrived, were picked up by Newark Baggage Service at 10:15AM and would be delivered by 10:15PM. Tried calling Delta's 800 line for additional updates but the number was always busy; even the direct line number. Finally reaching them, they could provide no more information than what I already found...except that bags are normally delivered within six hours of being picked up. At 8:00PM, called customer service again and once again, the call center was not helpful; they could provide no updates nor could they put me in touch with baggage service. I found the baggage company myself on line and called them. Was told bags would be delivered by 10:00PM. At 11:10PM my doorball rang and bags were delivered. According to Delta site, baggage will not be delivered after 10:15PM to residences. Thirteen hours after my bags were picked up Newark Baggage Service they were delivered. Call Center is useless; merely "parrots" providing information found already on line. Delta has a lot to learn about customer service; more like customer dis-service. My family will look for other carriers in the future for air travel.
