Lowe's Complaint - It's Not Our Fault!!!
NORTHRIDGE CA -- November 2010
1) didn't measure carpet correctly: had to reorder and wait for the product to ship and reinstall. (Inconvenienced)
2) Lowe's installers while tucking carpet lifted (newly installed) base board out from wall creating 1/4- 1/2 inch gaps between base board and wall that cannot be pushed back into place with out removing, trimming, replacing, filling nail holes, painting and caulking.( Not a quick fix.) We brought the problem up with Lowes and the installer, both claimed that it was not their f-a-u-l-t-s and that if we wanted to have it repaired (that which their installers broke) we would have to pay for.
3) Installers took back door off to install carpet. One of the installers mentioned in passing that the door would need to be trimmed approximately one 1/2 inch. To fit with the new carpet. When the Lowe's installers left the door was still sitting in the side yard untrimmed. We were left with out anyway to put our back door on and our house un-securable. After an hour of frustration I was able to put the door back on but it was not usable because it wasn't trimmed. We didn't have a functioning back door for 2 weeks
4) we had just recently installed new doors that hadn't been finished yet. They didn't wash their hands or wear gloves while removing the unfinished doors and 2 doors have significant oily fingerprints on the unfinshed doors. They offered to sand the fingerprints, but I didn't trust their ability at the point in time that they offered to sand it.
The carpet is very nice, but Lowe's didn't make it. Its the little things that count and they didn't come through in the end, its two months later and our base boards are still not fixed. Be ware of the big box stores their deals are too good to be true. As service provider for a small company I know that when something happens even if its the customers fault I try to make the customer by helping to see the problem through. Its two months later and our base boards are still sprung from the wall.
