Assurant Health Complaint - Discrimination by Assurant Health

TEXAS -- Assurant Group Health Insurance cancelled our group health insurance for two reasons: they discriminated against a pregnant female employee and did not want to continue our group because it was a very small group. They wanted the income from a large group. They accepted our payments, cashed our checks, then stated they had received a payment 2 days late and that was grounds to back-date policy cancellation 2 months (even though we provided cancelled checks as proof they had accepted our payments.) On appeal, we were told, "there's nothing we can do for you." Now female employee must pay out of pocket for birth and hospitalization - employee is a student with no funds to pay and Assurant does not care!

Check with the Insurance Commissioner of your state and file a complaint. If you have the proof that the payments were cashed on time then they do not have a leg to stand on.
