Quality Inns, Suites & Hotels Complaint - Terrible

Complaint
Review by dora_105 on 2011-01-10
I was traveling and decided to stop at the quality inn located in burr ridge Illinois, my mother and I went into the hotel and the first thing that struck us was the terrible smell, almost like roach spray..next was the front desk staff.. all wearing their winter coats and gloves, in addition there were guests in the lobby with their coats on.. people in the bar / lounge wearing their coats and gloves.. when I asked someone why it was so cold inside..i was told that the hotel is in financial distress and they are only allowed to keep the heat at 55 degrees.

This strikes me as more of an informative post, unless you actually stayed there. Tell me you didn't stay there.

Did you stay there?

My kids would absolutely LOVE 55 degrees. Our house is at 50. We weren't joking when we told them they were getting heat and electricity for Christmas.

Each room has an individual thermostat. It wouldn't bother me what the lobby temperature was set at, so long as my room was nice and toasty.

Then again...if they were that frugile in cutting back on the heat, where else were they cutting corners in an effort to save money? Changing the linens, cleaning the bathrooms, etc...? On second thought...(starting the car)

That's a poor excuse, in my opinion. If they are in so much distress that they can't heat the lobby, they should call it a day and fold up shop IMO. What's next - the room thermostats are locked at 65 or below?

I, too, would worry about other cutbacks that might result in a very unpleasant stay. I agree that if something as essential as heat cannot be provided, it's time to call it a day.

Olie.. 50?!! Each year I set the thermostat a little higher. I'm up to 65. I wouldn't survive 50 anymore.
