General Motors Informative - Body Shop Complaint - Chevy Cavalier
On May 31, 2004 I bought a brand new Chevy Cavalier from a dealer in Wetaskiwin, AB.
On August 27, 2004 I got involved in a 4 car pile up that was deemed by the insurance industry to be not at fault. I had 2 points of impact from the car that hit me, one was on the fascia around the license plate, and the other was on the left hand side of the main bumper. I got the car appraised by Direct Automotive Appraisals LTD. Claim number 4418877. With an estimated cost of repair to be $448.33.
I took the car into WestGate Chevrolet Ltd. They did the work on the bumper, took about a week for them to complete the work. I went to look at the results before driving the car away, and noticed that they repaired the impact on the main bumper, but forgot to repair the fascia. I also requested them to fix up the rock chips on the hood, which they failed to do.
So I booked another appointment for them to complete the repairs on the fascia, they did the work, took again about a week to complete. Got the car back, everything looked ok, they did the fix up of the rock chips also. After driving the car for about a week, I noticed when washing the car, the paint was peeling where the bumper meet the main body. I took the car in to have it looked at.
So again I booked another appointment for them to sand down the bumper and re-paint it. Again the repairs took about a week to complete. Inspected the work, and it looked promising. A couple of days later, with out washing the car I noticed the paint was peeling yet again. Took the car in and they wanted the car again to fix it.
I booked an appointment for April 18, 2005 for them to attempt yet again to repair the bumper.
So to summarize, after spending a total of 3 weeks, soon to be 4 weeks driving a loaner car, and having them repair what they claim to be something they do all the time, it is really getting frustrating having to always take in my car to have it re-painted, when it has been under a year that I have owned the vehicle. When I first purchase the car I was so excited and happy with you company, because I was already treated with the best customer service! But this latest series of events has lead me to doubt the quality of service that your company provides.
