1-866-331-6256 Complaint - 866-331-6256 return phone call number

Review by kamala777 on 2011-01-11
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- I received two messages on my business vm saying that they are investigatng a claim on one of my patients. They gave me a reference number, wanted my fax number and my tax ID, with a return phone number of 1-866-331-6256. When I returned the call, several times, I got a recording asking for my tax ID, reference # that they left and my fax number. The recording only identified themselves as "data verification". I could never get a real person and never got a return call. Of course, I did not leave my business tax ID, which also happens to be my SS#, as I am a very small business. I am wondering if anyone else is getting calls from this number and if it is some sort of phishing scam? (It stressed me, making me wonder if there was some problem with a patient that I was not aware of.)

I'd suggest contacting the FTC to let them know

This is a company that asks for your info and fax number so they can send you a request for you to agree to lower your fee for recent billing you have sent in for patient visits. They will claim to do "expedited billing" if you agree to a lowered fee. But when you agree to a lowered fee, the company they were hired by will still pay only `-p of the amount you agreed to bill. This company gets a percentage of whatever amount you agree to lower your bill. Never
give them your fax. Never call
them back.

This is definitely a scam. They called my office stating they were calling on behalf of an insurance company and wanted our tax if and banking information. The insurance co had no knowledge of this! Don't give them any information!!!
