Hotels.com Complaint - Price Match Guarantee - Read the fine print
Before committing to a guaranteed price from hotels.com, I would suggest checking the hotel's website directly for discount programs that you might be eligible for. In my case, I discovered (too late) that the hotel for which I had just made a reservation offered an AARP discount of 20% over the best rate at Hotels.com. When I contacted Hotels.com about the discounted rate, I was informed that they do not include AARP (or any other) discounts when price matching. So I am paying 20% more for the three rooms that I booked than I could have otherwise paid had I avoided hotels.com and gone directly to the hotel's actual website. It was my mistake to not fully understand hotels.com's policy regarding "best rates". They did not misrepresent themselves in any way. I suggest that you carefully read and understand the fine print before giving hotels.com your business. Their guaranteed best rate may not be the best rate available based on your individual circumstances. Caveat emptor.
