Z Gallerie Complaint - Horrible Customer Service
Z GallErie has horrible customer service policies and their employees are aware of it.
I received a piece of art work from my boss for Christmas. It has a Z GallErie label on the back with a date. It does not fit the decor of my home.
I called the Bridgeport (Tigard Oregon) store and explained the situation. The clerk told me to call the company 1-800 number and someone would look up the transaction and help me with a store credit.
I called the 1-800 customer-no-service number and (after waiting on hold) an operator told me that there was nothing that they would do for me. No exchange. No store credit.
I asked to speak to a supervisor who confirmed that there was nothing that the company would do for a recipient of a gift. I asked why the store clerk nudged me off to the 1-800 when she knew that they would tell me that I would not be assisted. The supervisor (after talking to me for awhile) acknowledged that this is a tough policy to enforce that makes many customers unhappy. She also acknowledged that the store clerk likely knew that I was not going to be assisted by the 1-800 operator but did not want to take the heat.
My biggest complaint: do not mis-manage customers expectations. If the answer is "No", do not send customers to the 1-800 operator with the expanation that they will take care of the request.
Can no accommodation be made for gifts? Store credit at lowest sales price would be the minimum expectation for items that have a Z GallErie label on the back. "Get lost. Pound sand. Please disappear." is not a healthy, customer friendly practice.
