Mike Erdman Nissan Merritt Island Complaint - Lying sales people, bad management and people skills

Review by kimmy772 on 2011-01-12
MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA -- [snip - no names please] of Mike Erdman Nissan of Merritt Island Florida is a very shady person, he lied to get us excited about a new car and we were told we were approved and let to take car home yet they tried to make us fall in love with the car thinking we would jump through hoops to keep it, We gave all the information upfront and were told no problem getting us approved, they let me take the car home and told me they wouldn't let me if the financing wasn't going to go through. They said it is basically a done deal, they lied. I brought the car back but right before I did the manager [snip] called my husband an a$$-hole, how professional is that, he is an embarrassment to the company in mu opinion. I have yet to get my deposit back which I will be calling about if it doesn't come in a few days.

Do not go here unless you have perfect credit and a huge income or cash in hand, this is a deceitful shady dude.

Thanks Kim

It isn't clear to me what the salesperson did that was unethical, shady, etc.

How exactly did it become evident that the manager did something shady and it was no longer a done deal? What preceded him calling your husband a nasty name? Did he just blurt that out of the blue?

I read your review and I still don't know what happened. How about a quick rundown of exactly what happened?

It sounds like the OP was a victim of "spot delivery". This is a sales tactic used by car dealers in which they will allow a buyer to take a car home assuring them financing is "approved" only to call them a few days later and tell them the deal didn't go through, a larger down payment is then requested to get the "financing" approved.

One of many shady tactics used by auto sales and yet another reason to NEVER let the dealer obtain your financing.

Thanks, leet60. Sounds like it fits. "spot delivery" - never heard that term. That's a nasty sales tactic.
