Samson Zoom H2 Recorders Complaint - Poor product service
Many people have told me to buy this inexpensive recorder so I followed their advice. That was not a good idea.
I would complain about the product's small controls, which require teeny fingers to navigate, but that is not my major complaint.
My MAJOR complaint is that none of my SD cards work with the device. After calling customer service ( a 5-10 minute wait on hold), I was asked if I was using one of their approved SD cards. Approved? There are tons of SD cards out there, I have to check the particular code of each card? Well, if you're not using an approved SD card, their may not be anything wrong.
After going to their web site, they have a total of 3 16 gb sd cards that are approved, and four 32gb sd cards that are approved. That's not 3 or 4 brands, that's 3 particular codes. I'm supposed to look at the fine print of each SD card and match up the codes??? Then I look at the dating of the list- 2009. It's now 2011, they haven't updated their list in over a year.
Not to worry, they sell approved SD cards on their web site, a 2 gb one for $32. Really? I can get a 16 or 32 gb sd card for that price. That sounds like robbery.
Insult to injury? they don't offer any replacement or warranty return to the major retailer I purchased it from. I have to pay shipping to return it to them, wait for them to look at it or repair it, and then send it back. what would that take, a month? I needed it for an interview this weekend. Oh yeah, 10 more minutes on hold to wait for them to answer, and the person answering doesn't know anything in particular but can give you a return RA #.
I bought this from a responsible retailer who is helping me, luckily. that responsible retailer is B&H, who understand customer service, and whom I buy everything from. I certainly hope they reconsider working with this manufacturer.
