Dish Network Complaint - Terrible Technical Support
BETHESDA, MARYLAND -- I have been a Dish Network customer for about 3 years. Overall I'm happy with the Dish programming and picture quality, but their customer service is terrible. Over the last 2 weeks I have repeatedly called customer service to request a service technician to fix our antenna / switch, each time they would ask me to do different diagnostics and request that I call back. All attempts to convince them that the problem was with the antenna / switch and schedule a technician were resisted by the Dish Network customer service representative. The problem continued to get worst, first it started with one receiver not being able to recognize the switch, after several days all three receivers could not connect. Each time I would call the customer service number (1-800-333-3474) the wait time would exceed 45 minutes. Even after they agreed to send out a technician, they told me that it would take at least 1 week for a technician to come out.
Companies that have been given license to provide telecommunications / satellite services to the public, should be required to also provide technical support that is acceptable. Their current advertising and marketing practices are misleading, giving you the impression of reliability, quality and quick customer service , when in truth it is the opposite. The investment for a dish antenna and 3 receivers is not insignificant, creating a barrier to switching providers, when you finally realize the truth about the lack of reliability of their system / service and the lack of technical support they provide.
The combination of deceptive advertising and lack of technical support from satellite TV providers should be closely scrutinized and not tolerated.
