Hartford Life Insurance Company Complaint - Hartford disability, what a ripoff!

Review by lacourtreporter on 2011-01-13
Hartford Life Insurance Company and their underwriters advertise insurance benefits that their policies don't cover. For instance, they will talk about a 30-day waiting period but after contacting them, they only offer policies with 60-day waiting periods. Another example, they advertise a Waiver of Premium if you've been receiving disability for six months, but when you try to have them waive your premium, you learn that's only if your policy is medically underwritten, which means they take a blood test, etc., at the time they issue your policy. Further, they represent that everyone is accepted by just filling out a simple application, but when you ask for waiver of premium, the waiver of premium is only for "standard issue plans."

That's what we laypeople call "false advertising." If I had unlimited resources of time and money, I would pursue this avenue legally, but unfortunately for me and many others like me, we're just trying to get healthy so we can go back to work.

So are you saying that you are currently out on disability and you are upset that Hartford won't let you apply for disability insurance?
