U-Haul Informative - False Advertisement of Trailers from Uhaul in Northern NJ
SADDLE BROOK, NEW JERSEY -- I have tried to rent a 4x6 open trailer in northern NJ which is $9.95 a day and weights only 720lb dry. Uhaul's website states these are local only trailers, OKAY. I call several local dealers and finally the regional office. The regional office states that they have NONE of these trailers. I am trying to schedule it three weeks in advance, so I say, "I do not need it this weekend, I would like to resever one". I am told, "we do not have any 4x6 open trailers". I state that the Uhaul advertises them, and ask why do you not have any. I am told "That people rent them and do not bring them back". Do they think I stupid? A trailer has to be registered with the DMV and have a liscense plate. It is not a video from Blockbuster. So I pollitely ask will you discount the 5x8 open trailer since you advertise them and do not carry them. The Uhaul's rep states " I don't THINK SO!!". So the only option is to rent the 5x8 that weights about a 1000lbs and drag it around on a Saturday, burn extra gas and put 25% more load and stress on my car then needed and I also get to pay Uhaul almost TWICE as much!!!! This is a straight forward case of false advertisement and Uhaul as a company is allowing the Saddle Brook, NJ regional office to continue this practice. In addition, they have a monopoly on trailer rentals for passanger cars, no one else rents them, so there is not other company to rent from. If this does find it's way to Uhaul, I would like them to know that I have rented trucks four times in the past 8 years, if you add trucks I have driven for family/friends rented from UHaul it totals 7 or better. I will never rent another truck from Uhaul after this and I will advise them of the same. There is always Ryder, Penske, Budget, Avis, Enterprise, ETC.
