LA Fitness Complaint - Very shady - Training
CALIFORNIA -- If I had just joined the gym and kept it at that, it would have been fine. But after I checked out the place, they had me sit down and talk to one guy about joining the gym and then another about having a personal trainer.
The way the represented the cost for hiring the trainer was not exactly accurate. It was if you paid close attention (each session is $50 for half an hour, three sessions per week, you do the math). But it wasn't until I got home and realized the total liability for this six months was over three thousand dollars.
That was stupid of me, but what really pissed me off was when I drove right back there and said "No, I can't afford this. I'd like to cancel." What did they do? They printed a piece of paper for me to mail to a PO box.
Every other place I have ever returned something or canceled a purchase has credited my card right away. This didn't smell right. I looked online and found other people complaining (should have checked that sooner).
I immediately called my credit card company and disputed any and all charges for the place, as well as followed the ridiculous process of mailing my cancellation to their PO Box. (The alternative -- I couldn't believe it said this on the contract -- is to send a telegram. Omigod).
Woman I spoke with (my credit card company) said "We've had problems with LA fitness. This isn't a surprise."
