Rcn.com Complaint - Really Stupid Tech Support - Impossible to get intelligent response
I spent nearly an hour on the phone with a level one techie who refused
to transfer me to a higher level when it was clear she didn't understand my question and could not find me a supervisor. When she finally did understand my question and relayed it to rcn's IT department the response I got was laughable.
I called to find out why email to my rcn address from a particular sender was not being delivered. I suspected the sender was on rcn's blacklist. After about an hour when the representative finally got the question she agreed to
ask the IT dept. She would not let me talk to them and "couldn't find" a supervisor.
I read her some IP addresses from the header of a message the sender had sent to my main, non-rcn, email address and asked her to check these along with the domain name of the sender with rcn IT.
I didn't realize that one of the IP addresses I gave her was the address of my computer. When she came back with IT's reply, it was that my computer's IP address had caused the messages to be blacklisted because it was "spamhaus."
I wish I bothered to remember my computer's IP address. Perhaps I am as stoopid as the rcn techies for not.
I only use rcn for two reasons and would not recommend it to anyone.
reason 1: as a back up in case roadrunner goes down
reason 2: to forward messages to my old rcn email address to my rr account.
