The Mail Room Informative - $43 labor charge to put my cell phone in a padded envelop

Review by klauman on 2005-04-11
GROTON, CONNECTICUT -- I left my phone at my families home during a visit and asked them to mail it to me. My mother, bless her trusting heart, simply brought it to the mail room and told them I needed it overnighted to my address. The charged her $57.00

After several phone calls, I found out that the actual shipping charge was $9.00 through DHL. That means that The Mail Room charged $48.00 for packaging. I demanded a refund and my sister drove back there to retrieve the phone. They had thrown it into a $1.75 padded envelope. My $100 phone in AN ENVELOPE!!! Thankfully, they refunded my family the full amount less the $1.75. Good night!

When I spoke to the clerk at the store, she kept telling me the charges are automatic and that she "just works there." Of course the supervisor was "out for lunch." They were all out for lunch if you ask me. Beware, beware.

Makes you wonder what they'd have charged if they put it in a box like it should have been.

What kind of way is that to treat a customer , buz? Another disgruntled customer. You are going to lose this business just like you lost your "Bathtub Vodka" business.

Actually, it is NEVER $9.00 for Next Day Air shipping. If your mother specified next day, she got next day. $57.00 seems a little high but places like the mailroom do charge more for services then the actual company would, it would NEVER be $9.00 for overnight shipping though! You probably saw that ground shipping would get there the next day BUT however ground is not guaranteed. Id say the problem was your mothers wording
