Overseas Adventure Travel Complaint - Bait and Switch by O.A. Travel (OAT) - Travel Package to Costa Rica

Travel Package to Costa Rica - Complaint
Review by GET Travelers on 2011-01-21
We were in the process of booking a trip to Costa Rica on January 21, 2011. It was advertised on the OAT website as a 13 day trip. We also added a pre-trip to the Panama Canal (5 days)also advertised in writing.

We said "OK book it leaving April 29, 2011" (we had talked to agents earlier about this package and were quite excited to go ahead.) While we were on the phone the booking the agent (you never get their name) put us on hold to double check the arrangements .... a few minutes later he came back on and said it is MANDATORY with this 13 day package that you also MUST book a post trip of 5 days. He said the decision was not his but was just made "several minutes ago" by his superiors. Of course this means the first 13 package was in fact a FRAUD since you must book the post trip...soooo the trip was single trip actually a more expensive/less attractive 18 days.....the first (13 days)trip apparently did not really exist as a stand alone as represented in writing and by OAT agents.

What a slight of hand. unethical, snake oil move! This firm was recommended to us .... I certainly don't know why. Perhaps they don't appreciate the power of the "blog" when they pull "bait and switch." tricks. Bill and Gail Tudor wtudorjr@gmail.com

Your best bet would be to deal with a reliable travel agent in person.
