Jack In The Box Complaint - Where's the Beef? - Tacos

Tacos - Complaint
Review by Starlord on 2011-01-25
I saw on the news that someone has filed a class action suit against Taco Bell over the percentage of beef in their taco filling. I happen to like Taco Bell tacos. Perhaps the plaintiff would like to try Jack in the Box tacos. The current JitB commercial shows Jack as a cop, sent for lunch.

The tacos shown in the commercial have filling spilling out the end of the shell, lettuce and possibly tomato, and a slice of cheese. Every time I have gotten tacos at JitB, there is less than a tablespoon of highly spiced stuff that is definitely NOT ground beef, in a grease laden shell.

It sort of looks like a Mexican ravioli. If anyone should be sued over tacos, it is Jack in the Box.

Starlord, you should know never to buy Mexican food at a chain. Especially one that doesn't specialize in it. Do they have Muchos Gracias in your area? If so, check it out! Very authentic, fast food Mexican. I'm sure they cook with lard, but who's checking for my once-in-a-while visits in SW WA, lol.

I love that people have nothing better to do than SUE over TACOS!

But, now I want a Taco Bell taco. I think the amount of beef is just fine. We don't have Jack in the Box around here, so I can't comment.

We, also, dont have Jack in Box over here in the 757.

Mexican ravioli, ROFL! Has anyone ever complained about too much beef?!

I read somewhere that the filling in those tacos is actually beef flavored soy. I've never like the tacos that much anyways. But my SIL's latest pregnancy craving is their tacos nachos; its their tacos with melted cheese all over them, nacho style. Makes my stomach turn just thinking about it

It amazing JITB made a comeback after this:

"Jack in the Box's success came to a halt in the 1990s because of two main factors: the national recession of 1990-91 (the company suffered an 81 percent decline in net earnings in 1991) and more importantly, the E. coli epidemic of 1993: Four children died and hundreds of others became sick in the Seattle area as well as California, Idaho and Nevada, after eating undercooked and contaminated meat from Jack in the Box. It was the largest and deadliest E. coli outbreak in American history up to that time."

I haven't eaten there since because I always think of e-coli when I see their name.

I remember that, sing. I didn't think Jack in the Box would ever recover from it. I have never been to Jack in the Box, but I too think of e-coli when I see the name. Some people have short memories, I guess.

Actually the Jack in the Box tacos is a combination of beef and beans. They don't hide the fact that it has more beans than meat. but I agree, the tacos never look like the picture on tv. the Mexican ravioli is very accurate.

Do any items ever look like the pictures/tv ads??

MG, we actually have people suing Taco Bell over the % of meat in their tacos? I'd like to start a class action against parents that continue to feed FF slop to their kids.
Posted by singsing on 2011-01-25:
Here, here, jc. I'll join that! It's not so much the parents who take them once in a while to me, but more the ones who make it the kid's regular diet.

Excellent post Starlord. I love stories like this.

Anyone who cares here's the official taco meat ingredient list

"Beef, Water, Seasoning [Isolated Oat Product, Salt, Chili Pepper, Onion Powder, Tomato Powder, Oats (Wheat), Soy Lecithin, Sugar, Spices, Maltodextrin, Soybean Oil (Anti-dusting Agent), Garlic Powder, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Caramel Color, Cocoa Powder (Processed With Alkali), Silicon Dioxide, Natural Flavors, Yeast, Modified Corn Starch, Natural Smoke Flavor], Salt, Sodium Phosphates. CONTAINS SOYBEAN, WHEAT"

"The class-action lawsuit charges that Taco Bell's meat mixture contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as beef,"

Why oh why do they need so many darn ingredients? I make delicious tacos with just a few ingredients--and this is only the meat!

Reading the story the suit does not seek monitary damages but rather seeks to force "Taco Bell be honest in its advertising".

I wonder which Taco competitor is behind this one.

In aside there will be no Lion Tacos in Tuscon AZ. Sorry Wally.

Maybe it's consumers, LR, not a competitor?

No wonder those Tacos are so damn cheap. two for a buck, hmmm made me wonder but I knew they had soy in them

We found Del Taco to have great tacos, then Taco Bell, and for the bottom, it is a close race between Jack and the Taco Del Mar. I gave up on looking to Jack in the Box for meat long ago. To me, this is as bad as when we lived in San Diego and sw billboards all over the place, advertising fish tacos. When we decide to try one, we got a fish stick in a soft tortilla. Later, I found out a real fish taco was a fillet in a shell with cabbage and a special sauce.

That's gross, you don't even know what the heck you're eating. I plan on never visiting both of these joints

We called their complaint department because they hire alocal biker gang memebr who is very nasty and treated us with disrespect. They told the employee who waited 7 days, then went to Police and tried to get us arrested for harassing her. This ame biker has threateend to kill us before as have other members of their gang. Jack says he wants to hear from you. DON'T DO IT...CORPORATE says they are going to tell ehr we called back even though we told them to forget they ever heard of us, they said they encourage their employees to call Police if they feel threateend by a customer. (7 days later she felt threateened) So, if you go to Jack In The bOx in Livingston Texas you may get arrested or killed by a biker gang. And don't complain to Corporate, Jack lied when he said he wants to know. I cannot sleep now and am embarrassed the Police came to our home for this.
