Empire Hyundai Complaint - Sales

Complaint
Review by coochy00 on 2011-01-26
The sales techniques at Empire are rude and unprofessional. I had spoken with the internet sales department and asked for them when I got there, but was told that they could not service me, therefore I had to deal with a salesman. I went there to buy a Sonata and was asking for prices and mileage on used Sonatas. Walked around the lot of used cars and there were no visible prices. When we back into the show room I asked for a list of cars so I can see what they had, and the salesman pushed for what my budget would be, which I hated to say. But when I did he went to the sales manager and brought back keys to an Elantra to test drive. Imagine that, I had an approved loan waiting to be used in my pocket (which I disclosed), need to purchase a car, and they wouldn't give me a list of used cars with prices. They tried to force us into a car we did not wish to look at. Furthermore, when I got up with my wife the sales manager came and I said once again that I wanted to see a list of the used cars for sale so I can browse to see which few might work. He said that they do no give out such lists, or information. So I went to another dealership who gave me what I needed to make an informed decision, negotiated, and purchased a car that same day. I had bought two new Hyundais in the past 10 years from Empire and you would think that they would have cross referenced my name and seen that I was a good customer returning to give them more business. NEVER AGAIN, THE SALES DEPARTMENT SUCKS AND THERE ARE OTHER FRIENDLY DEALERS IN THE AREA. THEY WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER DIME OF MINE.

Where is this dealership located(to help others)? It was a smart move going to another dealer.

honestly I've never in my life been given a list of cars to decide from with prices? Perhaps they list them on the internet, but its pretty normal to ask you to look at which car your interested in and then they work out pricing.

I hate when car dealerships don't service me, too.

"what my budget would be, which I hated to say"

Um. You do realize - unless you're paying for the car in full, your budget WILL be something they need to know?

Plus, knowing how much you might want to spend will help them direct you towards a realistic car.

When I got my first car the dealer was trying to push me towards newer, shiny cars... until he realized my budget was enlisted military. Then all the cars they brought me to were more within my budget.

The asking price wasn't in the window of the car?... That's odd.. I've never seen that before.

There are too many places begging for business.. I would of walked also.
