Dish Network Complaint - Dish Network Nightmare
After over a year with Dish Network, I was anxiously awaiting the end of my two year contract after having had to endure their ludicrously low standards if both service and signal. Then I lost my signal. Yes it was snowing, but all my neighbors who had Dish Network had a signal. After calling for two days to try to wheedle them into doing a system check, they finally complied and found out that it wasn't the weather. I asked my bill to be reduced the lost time because it turned out not to be a weather related issue and they offerede to give me a measly $5 dolars off my over inflated bill-and that included the time I would be without a signal until the repairman came out. I had been paying for insurance so that in the event I needed a repair I wouln't be charged a fee. Turns out that was only to cover half the fee. I refused to pay and after a few more irate phone calls they agreed. When the repairman came, he wanted to take my receiver, with all the kids movies and shows recorded on it. Movies that would cost me dearly to replace with DVDs. I had had it. So I called and tried to cancel. The cancellation fees were unsurprisingly outrageous. I told them flat out that they had defrauded me from the first with promises of great signal and superior customer service. Promises I relied on when making my decision to sign with them. I was harmed by their knowingly false guarantees and that since they had not fulfilled their end of the bargain I was not required to honor my end. I told them I believed this was categorically true and that I believed a judge would see it my way if and when I pursued the matter. I was offered up to management and with hasty apologies assured that I would not be charged for the repairman or for cancellation. It's a shame I had to resort to such extreme measures, and I hate that every day there are people out there being bullied into these fees. I hope some sort of legal action does regulate these crooks in the future. Dish Network ought to be ashamed of themselves.
