Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - A Gun and Poor Customer Service
On 1/27/11, I rented a car from Enterprise, NJ location. I picked up the car at 4 p. m., and when I entered the car, I noticed a Muscle Milk container in the cupholder. I didn't think much of it, and threw it away once I arrived back at work.
On 1/28/11, I ordered a pizza online and proceeded to pick it up. Once I placed the pizza in the back seat of the car, I noticed a bulge in the passenger side pocket on the back of the seat. I proceeded to put my hand in the pocket, only to find a revolver.
I immediately went to the police station across the street (the Deptford Municipal buidling) where I notified the police of what I found. I was questioned when I got the vehicle, how I found the gun, etc. and then spoke to a detective who confiscated the loaded 32 mm hand gun.
After returning home, and eating the cold pizza, I contacted Enterprise.
My first call was disconnected after 3 minutes.
My second call I spoke to a woman who identified herself as (rep 2) I believe (she later refused to give me her name) who provided me with the corporate office in NJ. I then explained to her why I was calling since I wanted it documented - I provided her with my name and the location I picked up the vehicle. She then questioned me where I found the gun, and then told me they didn't clean there. I proceeded to tell her about the Muscle Milk container. After re-iterating to her that I found a loaded gun, she told me that I was making too big of a deal about it, and refused to provide me a supervisor and her name, and then disconnected the call.
I then called back and spoke to Rep2, who was apologetic and provided me reference number, etc.
My concern is that a loaded gun was found in a vehicle that obviously was not cleaned, and the gun could have been possibly life ending if it fell into a child's hands in the back seat or someone else, in addition to being hung up on by customer service after finding a loaded weapon.
