Hughes Net Satellie DSL - Complaint
I have been with Hughes Net approx. 2 years & 2 months. When we signed up NO one told us about their "limited" 225 mb/24 hour download limit (except from 1:00am - 6:00am no limt)...I found out the hard way after being reduced to sub dialup speed for the next 24 hrs after exceeding it! My wife & I decided since AT that time we were getting a fairly decent download speed (1.00 Mbps) we would stay with Hughes Net. Approx. one month ago Hughes "updated their sytem"...now DURING PEAK HOUR USAGE (approx. 5:30pm - 10:00pm) WE RUN AT A SMOLDERING DOWNLOAD SPEED Of. 11 of A Mbps...yes that is eleven hundredths. After calling one of their techs he admitted "there had been some changes." This is great now we are paying approx. $80.00/month for limited parttime high speed Internet!! Not for long we have discovered we can get wireless broadbandtogo at $50.00/month w/o a contract along with UNLIMITED downloads!We had tried WildBlue before using HughesNet...they were even WORSE!!! I strongly suggest do the research IF you can purchase wireless broadband in your rural area... AVOID satellite DSL !!! Goodbye Hughes Net...yay!

After all, it is a satellite, and it has a maximum bandwith. Think of how much more video content is being transferred as time moves on. The concept of lowering an individual's speed after they use a certain amount of data makes sense to me. They could send up a new satellite with more powerful equipment, but think of how much money that would cost.

we had Wildblue for almost a year and it was a joke We were going to go with Hughes net but it was just as bad If you live in a rural area its either Dial-UP or nothing.

See if Alacrity is in your area. They rescued us from HughesNet, and we've had good service.
