Urban Active Complaint - Urban Active gives accurate price, but won't let you go...

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- After misleading customers about a supposed upgrade to one of their Nashville locations, Urban Active claimed "economic reasons" for then suddenly closing the very same club. Basically, they led their customers to believe that their club was being remodeled for 2 MONTHS and then closed the club at the end of those 2 months, without warning. They then expected everyone to drive more than 5 miles to the next available club.

My contract was almost done, so I decided to simply stick it out and finish the contract, instead of trying to cancel (which, by the way, they would not let me do, even though it said I legally could, given the fact that they closed the gym and the nearest one was more than 5 miles away). However, after being assured that my non-renewal had gone through, they continued to charge my credit card for several months after the fact. After numerous e-mails and phone calls and about 3 months later, they FINALLY ceased charging my card for a membership I no longer had.

What is most troublesome about this company is that they lie time and time again. Also, the people that work at the front desk have good intentions, but little support from the corporate offices. The communication chain simply doesn't exist from corporate to branch to customer. If you sign up with them, do NOT give them your credit card, or any financial information. They will never let you go.
