Empire Home Warranty Complaint - Empire Home Warranty = Scam, Stay Away!

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE -- I purchased a 110-yr-old home and purchased an home warranty. My hot water heater failed and the company refused to pay the claim, even though it was covered. I was treated VERY rudely by John in customer service, who "diagnosed" the problem over the phone and denied the claim. I complained to management and was promised a full refund of my $580 contract IN WRITING. That was in September 2010. This is February 2011. The Regional Manager BRAD HUGHES promised me five separate times that "the check was mailed," in writing, on 9/17/10, 10/30/10, 11/10/10, 11/29/10 - plus other dates.

I am taking the company to small claims court to get my refund. STAY AWAY FROM EMPIRE HOME WARRANTY!

we just had another one of these a few hours ago for a different home warranty. these things are scams. here is what you do, when you get your money back open a bank account and put the money in there. you were willing to pay it, so doing this should not be an issue. each month add a little to that account. make this account your 'warranty' fund. when something breaks or needs repair take it from there. then little surprises in life won't cause you stress.

azRider, I agree with you. Every week I have $25.00 transferred from my checking into my saving accounts. That's $100 per month of *just in case* money.
