SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN -- New members beware. The day your approval email is sent, BCBS does not ask for payment. Smart Move. When you call and ask for the card after a week or so, they say no payment is received. Why don't they take the payment upfront. This is delaying tactics. Once I have an approval from BCBS, I have to cancel my previous insurance. It takes about a month to finally get your card. So, technically speaking, I am paying BCBS one month premium without actually using it. But when I told this to the Customer Service Rep, I was told "You can use the services by paying upfront and claiming it back from BCBS". It is really a harrowing experience.
