QuiBids Complaint - Buyer Beware! - Online auction

Review by Linda Loschiavo Makofski on 2011-02-14
Be very careful on this site. I thought I was making bids for a penny only to find out each bid cost me 60 cents. I didn't realize this until I was over $300.00 in the hole. In order to cut my losses, I purchased the item. What I ended up buying cost me $630.99 when the same item would have cost me $499.00 at Wal-Mart.

This was my own stupidity, I repeat it was MY STUPIDITY...Please don't be duped in doing the same thing!

That is how all penny auction sites work. They're basically a scam that benefits only the site owner. Buy an item for X amount, have people bid on it one penny at a time, and each bid costs more than a penny. You end up making enough to cover the cost of X item 3 times over.

On the home page of the website, it says the bids are 60 cents.

What did you bid on?

I was in search of a new online auction yesterday...because the seller fees on Ebay are outrageous! I found and will be trying a site I found called 'Webstore'...I've read everything over, including the fine print and this looks like something that can be great for those tired of the overchaged fees of Ebay and in your case, the bidding fees you're paying.
There are NO fees for selling on Webstore, yes it's free listings, free photos no final sale fees ... nothing! They have advertisers that pay to advertise on their site, so they don't have to charge us up to our KnickerKnacker in fees.

I've never tried any of these auction things. I'm afraid I might get carried away, lol.

Once I start my own experience on Webstore, I'll do a review...good or bad. But from what I've read on their site so far, sounds good to me.

Looking forward to it!
