Discover Card Complaint - Rate Increase After Online Transaction

Complaint
Review by louigi on 2011-02-18
Discover since 95, did online cashback towards debt, the money went through and showed me a balance online. Letter in the mail 2wks later said I was late with a payment. Called and said they would stop late fine, call the next day and do the cashback. Did that and still had late charge, and my fault for on line trans. watching comp. screen and reacting to what they see, I think they have a comp. system as good as Verizon and Comcast ones that do not make mistakes, so when you have to pay for the bail out, just remember that the ones who have gotten in to trouble and need help, maybe not directly. But everyone was in same boat. I seen no change in the money bus. to help the working class. want to free money. drop all rates to 2 percent across board.

Oh then they could not pay for that party bonus and vacation home. Wall street greed is still there. Sit on the money and make the rules. Say they care, you been a valuable customer, thank you for your business, 100,0000 and many more, one person is not going to hurt. Feelings hurt (thanks discover) need to put that on commercial.

Borrowing money on a credit card is a losing propostion in my opinion. I destroy every single "balance transfer" and "convenience check" the banks send me. I don't carry a balance anyway. If you think borrowing money using a credit card account is a good idea, you should stop and think again.

The bank isn't looking out for the working class - it isn't in the welfare business. Therefore you have to look out for yourself.

you know my partner had a similar experience with Chase. he recieved a check to do as he pleased, he wrote a check to use towards a down payment on the home we were purchasing. The VERY next month, when he recieved his bill, he saw that his minimum balance went from 2% to 5%. He called and basically they told them he either pays the 5% of the balance, or they will give him 2% of the balance and DOUBLE his interest rate. Those checks are no good. I think they send them out before they plan on screwing over a lump sum of people.

It should be obvious to the recipient that those checks are designed to make the bank money, and that it will be at the recipient's expense. Shouldn't it?

Think about it - the bank where you have checking only sends you checks when you *pay* for new ones. Hmm.
