Qantas Complaint - Don't fly Qantas
If you are considering flying to or from Australia, don't fly Qantas. The planes are dirty and poorly maintained. Even on long-haul flights in Business Class the service is appalling. You can expect something important not to be working, because Qantas no longer fixes things unless they are required to keep the plane flying (just). So expect either your audio or video not to be working, or the seat won't recline, or the lights won't dim in the cabin so on an overnight flight - no sleep. When I requested NOT to have a pork meal even put in front of me, for religious reasons, I was ignored, and then told there was nothing else available. I observed a cabin attendant racially abusing a passenger of Asian descent.
I wrote to Qantas about this shocking display of racism. In return I was sent a $50 gift voucher, as some kind of hush money. The cabin staff, including in Business Class, make you feel like ANY request at all is unreasonable and you're a problem. This included asking for such exotic beverages as a Diet Coke. If such a thing is possible, the food was worse than the service. On a long haul trip who wants to be treated like that?
