Audi Complaint - 2010 Audi Water Pump Failure - Audi A-6

Audi A-6 - Complaint
Review by AudiPump on 2011-02-21
Buyer Beware - We leased a new 2010 Audi A-6 last January and were devastated to have our water pump fail after only 6000 miles!! To make matters worse, the failure occurred while we were almost 100 miles from our home dealer, occurred suddenly such that we had to pull off the road quickly under dangerous conditions and required the car to be flatbeded to a repair facility. If this turned out to be a random failure, no problem. I can understand that this could happen once in a while. But it turns out not to be a random failure - the flatbed truck driver told us he had seen "several new Audis with failed water pumps that week!! This is a systemic failure of the part and Audi has not had the courtesy to notify by mail all owners of cars with the problem pump. Not the kind of company I will ever deal with again.

A quick search reveals many complaints about water pump failures on 2010 Q5s, and also several about A6s with under 10,000 miles.

Sounds like they may have redesigned at least the pump on the Q5, and replaced some plastic parts with metal ones. There are suggestions that Audi may have dragged their heals in issuing a recall because they didn't have replacement pumps ready. Good luck.

Good find. I had originally posted the poster should search the net as the tow drivers claim seemed unrealistic. It does appear they had a problem.

My 2004 Audi A4 Quattro now has had two water pump replacements. Luckily I was paying attention and no further damage has happened. I think should Audi should refund my money on this one. My car has only 88k miles. I have had to replace the fuel pump, two front window regulators, all the brakes and rotors, timing belt, 3 sets of tires, many brake light bulbs, wiper blades, and the most expensive was the recall for the sludging problem at 30k. Over the last five years we have put around $8k just in repairs for this car. What a piece of junk Audi makes. I have never had this masny problems with any car I have owned. This is an expensive car and with that being said it shouldn't have all these repairs in such a short time period with this little mileage. jshepherd6@hotmail.com anyone interested in a class action law suit??
