Lowe's Complaint - Dissatisfaction with Carpet Installation
BERGEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY -- I purchased a high grade off white bedroom carpet at Lowe's in the late spring of 2008 which included carpet installation for an additional fee. The installation had issues and it was necessary to have the young man return. It was obvious that this young man was very inexperienced. He wasn't able to fit the carpet into the closets and had made errors in cutting going into the hall. He corrected these obvious errors, however, over time the carpet has buckled in several areas. The carpeting wasn't properly stretched. Some ripples are more than 2" high. This is a bedroom carpet with minimal traffic. There is a single resident and no children in the home. The carpet is in excellent condition and would look new if not for the shoddy installation that caused the ripples where one has to be careful not to trip. Unfortunately, I complained to the store a year ago and did not receive any satisfaction since more than a year had passed. Does this mean that carpet installation should only last a year? I have had professionally installed carpet look good for 10 or 15 years. This was an investment of over $2000 for a higher end carpet with an additional cost for high end pad underneath. Lowe's should stand by its products. I will never shop at Lowe's again.
