Maytag/Whirlpool Complaint - Horribke stinking violently moving washer - maytag neptune

maytag neptune - Complaint
Review by juliegarzzone on 2011-02-21
I have owned a Maytag neptune for over 4 years now. The unbearable stench simply will not go away. After ton of calls to Maytag, that clean with chlorax/water is a bunch of junk. Also, when the washer rinses and spins it goes all over the room. The water never drains, and even just a tiny bit of any HE detergent suds it up and it stops. Never ever purchase a neptune.

The Roman god Neptune is associated with fresh, but not necessariy clean water. Considering Rome is an inland city, it is possible that estuaries of the Tiber River occasionally become still, causing a fetid stench.

This is what they don't tell you in the advertising material for the Neptune washer.

Front loading washers do not completely empty the water from the machine. As the machine is usually well sealed, standing water, darkness and warm air contribute to mold. The odor can be overpowering enough to make you want to toss your lunch.

You might want to try running the washer through a few hot water rince cycles with cascade dishwashing detergent. This seems to work well for me.

My machine smells too but there are things you can do to keep it from getting musky, or clean up the smell if it already exists. Use less fabric softener for starters. You can try a tide or afresh front loading machine cleaner, they do help. There are also home remedies that involve bleach or vinegar. Make sure you don't leave laundry in there longer then it needs to be, and leave the door open as soon as it's empty.

The tide or afresh washer cleaners are effective in most cases. As for the vibration issue you could try buying some anti vibration pads for about 5 bucks. Also they sell mats that will help keep the washer in place, Those are more expensive though
