Zellers Complaint - Zellers Cornwall Ontario Do Not Honor Return Policy

Review by chickenhead on 2011-02-22
CORNWALL, OHIO -- Unwilling to refund returned merchandise. Purchased PLAYSTATION 3, 1 week ago at Zellers, Found a better Bundle, 1 week Later Called Zellers Cornwall Return Department confirmed was Okay to return, with original receipt, in original packaging, despite being used for one week. Employee Confirmed with Manager at that time okay. Saterday 19th February, returned to that store with Merchandise to return, same employee spoke to previous evening recognized the situation, called same manager confirmed with to verify merchandise. Upon verification of everything there, Cords etc... still in sealed packages, states that will not accept return as was used. States that is Software and therefore Return Policy does not apply. Would not listen to reason, would not verify with another store manager, stated end decision. Sorry, Was not made aware Yesterday when you called that was used. This not software, software is a program, this is an electronic device, like a DVD player, which I should have no problem returning. Assistant manager MIKE, who would not accept this return, was condescending, not helpful and not even willing to get a second opinion or verify his information. this has caused us a great deal of stress. We did our Due diligence by Calling you to verify, you should to accept the return.

"despite being used for one week" Their return policy is very clear
"Some items cannot be returned if opened including music; movies; video games; and software. If defective, these items can be exchanged for an identical item."
Short and simple.

None of these Pertain to a Playstation 3, it is not a video game, it has no software to open. It is a DVD Player that plays games, Home electronics, 30 day return policy applies!

Sorry, but open box = used no matter how you slice it. No place takes back open electronics like that.

disagree with you,
Return policy as stated above
"Some items cannot be returned if opened including music; movies; video games; and software"

are certainly acceptable exemptions, None of which fit the description of a PS3 gaming console. Which Is considered the same as a DVD PLAYER, which if you are not satisfied with they would have certainly refunded.

It does not fit in the dvd player catagory. I don't believe DVD players have 180 gig capabilities. Nor do they have the capabilities for playing games,
"The PlayStation 3 (officially abbreviated as PS3) is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, and the successor to the PlayStation 2 as part of the PlayStation series. ..." seem as if it belongs in the video game catagory.

THe VIDEO game Catagory I beleive to be exactly that, a video game/movie. Would not expect you to buy a video game/movie open it, play it and return it 1 week later for a refund. This is not netflix. Is required to protect the industry from abuse. THe PLayer for that DVD or Video Game is not the same though.

It also states, "See in-store for full details." PS3 could be considered an exception to the return policy. Personally, I wouldn't want to buy a PS3 that someone else has played for one week.

Video game can count for hardware OR software OP...
