Baker College Complaint - Baker College is a JOKE! - Online BBA

Online BBA - Complaint
Review by Traveling Terry on 2011-02-23
FLINT, MICHIGAN -- I took 38 credits in Baker's online BBA program. Tried to transfer the credits to Baker's brick and mortar campus in the BBA program. They would transfer one class! How bad is a program when the "parent" college won't take the credits?!

If Baker won't take the credits, WHO WILL? I know you of Michigan won't because I tried. Going to Baker is tossing your time and money into the wind.

Are Baker College Online and Baker College affiliated? I'm googling both and it doesn't seem like they are.

They share the same domain name.

Baker College -- www.baker.edu/
Baker College Online -- www.baker.edu/bakeronline

I'd say they are affiliated in some fashion.

Some colleges like Baker may be accredited, but in the real world their degrees are not always worth a lot and frequently the credits won't transfer to other institutions.

I'd recommend ... if you want to do online classes, find a brick & mortar college first and *then* apply in person for online classes.

That way you don't fall victim to scams like that

But I saw a bakercollegeonline.com website too. It seems odd that a "college" has a .com rather than a .edu web address.

Pepper has it right. Most brick and mortar colleges have online options. Go that route.

Interesting momsey. Did you notice bakecollegeonline.com has a link to www.baker.edu on their home page and both the .com and .edu sites use the same logo. If they are not affiliated then somebody is being awfully deceptive about it.
Posted by PepperElf on 2011-02-24:
No, they're associated. Baker.edu lists bakercollegeonline on the catalogue

Both sites also list the exact same accreditation information: accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. and is a member of the North Central Association.

You might want to contact http://www.ncahlc.org/ to ask them for assistance in investigating why Baker won't accept their own credits.

The only plausible reason I can personally come up with is that ... your specific degree may require a different version of the course than the online version, or may require hands-on learning. However they should at least explain WHY to you other than just saying "No. Tough luck."

Awesome research PepperElf. You're starting to remind me of me everyday.

you mean i'm slipping?

JK *grin*

but seriously i do agree with the OP. that sounds strange and warrants an explanation.
