TAMPA, FLORIDA -- My husband and I used Payless car rental in Tampa Florida in Dec 2010. 1. We were quoted a price of 176.68 which was a great deal for 4 days then once we got there they pressured us into insurance which later found out that we didn't even need because our insurance would cover everything ( which the associate argued that our insurance would only pay for certain things. Not to mention you don't get the car the is stated in the contract.

2. Feb 2010 when I arrived home from work I received a letter from Payless stating that I had a 2.25 fee from tolls ok not a problem don't mind paying this since I wasn't really sure of the tolls or how they worked but the problem I do have is the 10.00 fee they stick you with to mail a. 61 cent letter.

When you are dealing with a discount car rental you have to be careful about hidden fees. As to the insurance, see what your car insurance covers, or what your credit card company covers, before you rent. Never accept the counter clerk's word about your coverage.
