Shopko Informative - Shopko buyers Beware

Review by littleme on 2011-02-28
OGDEN, UTAH -- I had to return a $39.99 item that was on sale in Sunday's paper but had misplaced my receipt. At one time that was not a problem. Beware now. Now you will only get an in store credit, Plus if that item was on sale at a previous date for less than you paid for it that is what you will get back on an in store credit.

That is SOP at many retailers. We live in a very different world now. Do you have a designated place to keep receipts now?

That sounds fair to me.

This makes perfect sense to me. Let's say you did buy it when it was on sale for $34.99. Then you bring it back without a receipt when the sale is no longer going on and they refund you $39.99. You just made $5 on that transaction. Let's say that they give you store credit. A few weeks later that item goes back on sale and you buy it for $34.99. You just received a $5 credit from the store for free. Smart businesses don't run that way.

You can thank all the people who took advantage of very generous return policies at department stores. Now we, the majority of honest people, must pay for the deeds of the minority who cheated the merchants. I do not blame the stores at all.
