Fedex Informative - Working Conditions - Distribution Centers

MIDDLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS -- I would like to know while working at Fedex, has anyone been told by management to go on the belt system to dislodge a package while the belt is still running, do not shut down belt just dislodge package any information pertaining to this request would greatly be appreciated.

Jktshff... it sounds like it should be company safety policy to shut down running machinery while fixing a problem and that policy was ignored or is non-existant.
I wouldn't screw around with a problem like that just to free up a package...

You're right jktshff but screwing around with active machinery is ALWAYS a bad idea if that is his real problem.. it sounds to me like that was going on... I know, I know, making an A$$ out of you and me is possible but I think unlikely..

I worked at UPS several years ago, and employees were forbidden from getting on an active conveyor belt. I saw employees get terminated immediately if they ignored this safety precaution, but in this case, I suppose it depends on FedEx management.

It sounds like maybe the OP was just trying to bring this to the attention of someone higher up the food chain than his/her immediate supervisor.
