Southwest Credit Union Complaint - Bad Communication

Review by Ady_1012 on 2011-03-04
SIERRA VISTA, ARIZONA -- I was involved in a fruad. About a month ago I was on Snagajob.com and applied for work from home doing Surveys. So I got a ckeck of $2,540.00 with my name on it. When I first got it I was surprised and on the letter that came with the check was instructions of what to do with the money. so a few days later the check was a fruad check so I did what I had to do call the bank to see what I could do to pay the money back. I called Southwest Credit Union and they transferred me to the collection department and I spoke to Gloria. When speaking with Gloria, she did not let me finish explaining what was going on when she went off on me treating me yelling so hard that I couldn't even understand what she was saying so I hung up. I know what my rights are and she did not give me the right to explain nor talk about the situation and now they want to press charges on me and my mother because of the check when it was not my fault.

All I wanted was to get a job so that I can support my kids, but it came out to be a scam.

Exactly what are your rights? You deposited a fraudulent check and now the credit union wants their money. I empathize with your situation, but warnings about work-at-home scams have been in the news for several years, and I can't understand people that continue to believe these, and it seems like it's usually those who can least afford to.

What jerks, most credit unions will work with you better than a bank. Unless you are able to pay it and any extra charges, you need to contact an attorney. Your local bar association should have a "pro bono" group to help people in your particular situation. Try here http://sazlegalaid.org/index.html . Good luck.

did the letter ask you to send the money somewhere else?

What were the instructions in the letter? Has the credit union gotten their money back?

When you say you know what your rights are, what do you mean?

You should file a police report as well.
