NJ Elite Movers Complaint - A Quote Of $130.00 Turned Into $750.00, Ugh!!!
GARFIELD, NEW JERSEY -- WARNING!!!!!
TO ANYONE THAT READS THIS...STAY AWAY FROM NJ ELITE MOVING COMPANY!! THEY BILLED ME OVER 500.00 TO MOVE ONE QUEEN SIZE BEDROOM SET BUT NEVER QUOTED THE PRICE!
I requested a quote for a move on 3/3/2011. I was contacted by a representative in the office that offered to complete the move for $130.00; however, the entire move was 750.00.
Let me explain the story in detail.
I found a mover on craigslist to complete my move for $160.00 (a small business). Later that day, I received a call from the representative at NJ MOVERS ELITE. I explained that your service was no longer need because I found a mover. She asks how much I was paying. I explained $160.00. She said "Oh, were having a special. Did you get the email?” I replied "No, I never received an email". Her response was "Oh, that’s weird because we can do it for $130.00". I was excited and thought what a great price.
So we scheduled everything and I cancelled the other mover on my end.
The day of the move once the movers arrived, I was told that the total move would be approximately $750.00. I called the office and received limited assistance. The person even lied and said she advised me of these fees. That was a total lie! Then she said she didn't believe I found someone to move me for 160.00 and to be honest I don’t care what she believed! She even said during the conversation, "Let me call the movers and check because I don't know why its that much." So imagine how I felt!
Why would I cancel a flat rate move in order to pay $65.00 an hour plus all the fees (and probably my first child if it was illegal)? It should've been explained that your company bills for everything under sun. Then they threatened to hold my keep my furniture or take it until storage if I didn't pay at least $500.00. Please keep in mind I only mover a queen size bed, headboard, footboard, dresser, mirror, chest, and one nightstand).
I cancelled the second stop and still had to pay $500.00 for a used bedroom set. That’s ridiculous. I don’t understand how NJ MOVERS ELITE moving company can even come up with those rates. I would hate to see the price to move an apartment. It’s probably close to $3000.00.
I’m wrote tho them to request some type of refund. I will not stop at just a letter to you. I'm currently working on the following:
1. I would set a reminder in my to post on craigslist my experience with your company and let everyone know the rip off that you are.
2. I contacted the Better Business Bureau.
3. I’m writing reviews on all the following websites about your business or filing a complaint.
Moving Scam.com, The Squeaky Wheel, The Rip-off report, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Fed. Trade Comm., Bureau of Consumer Protection, Nat'l Assoc. of Attorney General, Planet Feedback.
4. I'm contacted the news: Help me Howard and Shame on you! I will continue to contact them and will even write a letter to the news directly to ask for any help.
5. I'm going to file a small claims lawsuit against you but from what I've read online someone is already requesting anyone with a complaint to contact them in hopes of arranging a class action lawsuit against you. I've already emailed that person. I don’t care if I walk away with nothing. I want you to understand that this is not the way you treat people.
Even I stop one customer from being treated the way I was treated it is well worth it at the end. I have no reason to lie about the information I was given. I explained to her I never received an email which I guess it the contract. I asked Marianne to send me the email (which I still haven’t received from yesterday). I'm not working and I have a limited income so trust me when I say I know the difference between $130.00 and $130.00 plus a hundred fees.
You can look for my update today for craigslist about the company. I think I will use the title "Do not use NJ Elite Movers--they stole from me"! I will update a new title every week and become more creative. Plus, if there is any website about your company where it states "Write a Review" best believe I will. Once I reach out to the news I will send you the email as well just to keep you updated on my progress.
