National Land Investments Complaint - Beware of legal rip off

Review by Magna on 2011-03-05
TAMPA, FLORIDA -- National Land Investments & Trust contacted me about a lake lot I have owned for many years. The spill was they had interested parties and could sell my property in 90 days for a fee. If the property didn't sell in the 90 day period they would continue to advertise for 12 month period at their expense. The year has passed and the only time I was notified by these people was when I complained to the BBB (which they had a A rating with). The story was the person handling my property had died and they were getting a representative to sell my property to one of many interested parties. I signed the contract so what they have done is legal (I guess). I checked this company out before I agreed to the terms and found them to be a real business and in good standing with the BBB. My advice to anyone contacted by this company and others (Yes others tried the same approach): beware this is a legal sham. The fee was $525.00 not a lot but if you get enough suckers like myself it is very lucrative when you do nothing but print a contract.

I don't think I understand. you signed a contract to sell your land for $525? then it did not sell? is this what your saying? way on earth would you pay someone to sell it, they don't get a commission?

With several clients paying $525 they were able to purchase an A rating from the BBB.

Wow, sorry to see you got scammed. There are a lot of real estate Lowlifes out there. This company sounds like they are bottom barrel. Usually they get their fee after sale as a percentage of the sales price, never money up front. Never, never, never sign anything letting themist your property longer than 90 days. If they can't sell it in three months then find someone else.

The "money up front" part is what would have turned me away.
